Shop Talk

Don't be too suspicious of this tucked-away surburban boutique with the bold name -- it makes good on its claim with taste to spare. Jump on Interstate 85, head north toward Discover Mills, then turn the other way off the exit if you're seeking Taste. This men-and-women friendly shop features screaming skull tops and hats by Ed Hardy, jeans by Antik and Yanuk and the most bugle-bead embellished tops by Plenty that you've ever seen.

With a location far from Midtown and Buckhead, where these names made a name for themselves, Taste sets out to cater to a whole new crowd, and it's clear that the owners know how to pull it off.

TASTE IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT:
Emerging label La Rok already has sent samples to the store. Featuring short-sleeve blazers with rhinestone buttons and playful hoods on just about everything, think Joie crossed with Marc Jacobs -- cute, hmm? And don't be shy about trying them on; they're sure to be gone soon.

The bag selection is small but packs a punch. With silver lamé, gold sequins, and camel leather detail, Taste's Emily bag ($355) is downright bling-a-licious, but it's downright beautiful, too.

TASTY INFO:
Take one spin around the store, and you might notice that shop owner Teresa Caldwell is a little obsessed with rapper Bow Wow. FYI: She's his mom.

If you do nothing else, take the time to smell the Calypso Christiane Celle candles at the back of the store ($38). Part of the designer's collection, they come in scents like jasmine, mimosa and marine. The candles were hot commodities a few years ago in the Hamptons, where Celle has a shop. Now in-the-know boutiques along the eastern seaboard can't seem to keep the sweet scents in stock.
